To apply for the scholarships offered through our local PEF, please go to the Innovia Foundation website and follow their instructions.  You will need to create a MyInnovia account to begin your applications.  You should be able to see all the scholarships our PEF offers when you select Whitman County.

The American Legion, Maynard-Price Post 52, of Pullman will be awarding a $1,500 scholarship to two Pullman High School 2025 graduating seniors. The scholarship can be used at any college or university. To be eligible for consideration, one must:

• Have at least a 3.2 GPA after 7th semester (attach transcript)
• Be moral in character
• Be in good standing with the community
• Be a U.S. citizen
• Demonstrate loyalty/service to school & teachers
• Complete application which includes this form, an essay, resume, and transcript

Application

The money for this scholarship is given by Whitman County Genealogical Society in memory of Dorothy Sevier Matson (1920- 2002). She was a lifetime resident of Pullman who graduated from Pullman High School. She attended beautician school, worked in Pullman and during World War II joined the WAVES, serving in Washington, D.C. Upon returning to Pullman, she worked at WSU until retirement. Dorothy had a thirst for knowledge about the past and the people of this area and was interested in all things relating to Whitman County genealogy and history, with an emphasis on Pullman.

Eligibility

• Current PHS senior (including FlexEd participants)
• Former PHS students who have completed their GED
• Former PHS students who will have received a Washington State High School Diploma or Certificate

Award Criteria:

The successful applicant must:

• Satisfy the eligibility requirement
• Have been accepted to further their education at a university, college, junior college, trade school, etc.
• Submit a 1-2 page strongly written essay highlighting the applicant’s passion for family history and/or local history

Amount of Scholarship: $1,000

Application

This is an annual scholarship that is given to a PHS student who wishes to have a career in teaching.

Requirements: PHS current-year graduate

The successful applicant must be:

• A graduating senior at Pullman High School
• Has been accepted into an institution of higher learning
• Someone who is serious about their future in education

Amount of Scholarship: $1,000 – non-recurring scholarship to be used for tuition at the college or university of your choice during fall semester 2025. The scholarship award will be paid directly to the college of the successful applicant’s  choice on their behalf.

• Applicants must submit application form
• Submit a letter of application addressing the criteria 
• Please submit a 500-word essay sharing why you would want to become a teacher

Requirements: PHS senior student who will graduate this academic year

The successful applicant must be:

• A senior student at PHS interested in a career in teaching or special education. If a current PHS Senior does not apply, a former PHS graduate currently studying for a career in teaching or special education can be considered.
• Someone who has served as a volunteer in the community.
• Minimum 3.0 PHS cumulative grade point average

Amount of Scholarship: $4,000 – This scholarship is to be used for tuition, housing or fees at a 4-year college or university. The schlarship will be paid to and disbursed through your student account at the institution of choice for use during the 2025-2026 academic year.

2. Two letter of reference – at least one from a teacher, coach, or counselor. (The other letter can be from a member of the community not related to the stduent who knows the applicant well).

Application Deadline: April 18, 2025. Turn in your hardcopy application with any required materials at the PHS Counseling Center. Incompete applications or applications received after the deadline will NOT be considered.

Review of applicants is done by the PEF Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship will be presented at the annual PHS Awards Night to culminate the year. The PULLMAN EDUCATION FOUNDATION reserves the right to alter, amend, withdraw or terminate this scholarship offer at any time and reserves the right not to award this scholarship, all within the sole discretion of the PULLMAN EDUCATION FOUNDATION.

Award Criteria: 

The successful applicant will, in the sole discretion of the Pullman Education Foundation, be:

• A senior male student at PHS who has made solid efforts as a student
• Someone who has particpated in PHS athletics
• Someone who will be attending Washington State University after graduation from PHS

Amount of Scholarship: $1,000 – This scholarship is non-recurring and is to be used for tuition at WSU during Fall sememster 2025. The scholarship award will be paid directly to WSU on behalf of the successful applicant.

The Colfax Eagles Golden Grain #2317 is offering $1500 in scholarships this year to graduating high school seniors who are continuing their education at a two- or four-year college, university, trade, or technical school.

The scholarship is limited to students whose home residence is in Whitman County and is a graduating high school senior (or home-school equivalent).

The applicant must supply the Colfax Eagles with all the following information.

1. A typed, completed, and signed application form
2. A one-page essay including the following:
   1. Describe the career you want to pursue and why
   2. If you were an Eagles member, what would you do to help the community and why?
3. A copy of your current transcript with a cumalative grade point average
4. A letter of recommendation from a current Eagles member. Members may only write one recommendation per year. (Current member information may be obtained by calling Christy O’Keefe 509-385-4142).
5. A letter of recommendation from a non-relative

The Ron Brown Scholarship honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans.

RBSP competitively awards 20 four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each year) to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship – the four pillars of the late Ronald H. Brown’s mission to uplift people of all races, cultures and ethnicities – especially our disadvantaged youth.

Recipients may use the renewable scholarships to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the United States. Ron Brown scholarships are not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline. Since the Program’s inception in 1996, 683 students have been designated as Ron Brown Scholars.

Applicants for the Ron Brown Scholarship MUST be Black/African American, US citizens or permanent residents, and a current high school senior at the time of their application.

Scholars are selected based on merit. Award amounts range from $500 - $5,000, based on relative need.

Eligibility Requirements

• The HSF Scholar Program is open to students of all races that identify as being of Hispanic Heritage.

• U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, or DACA 

• Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students; minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for college and graduate students

• Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited, public or not-for-profit, four-year university, or graduate school, in the US, for the 2025-2026 academic year

• Submit the FAFSA or state-based financial aid forms (if applicable)

QuestBridge connects academically outstanding students from low-income backgrounds to the nation's best colleges. Referrals help us reach students who may not know that a top college can be affordable — and even free — for students from low-income backgrounds.

The College Prep Scholars Program for high school juniors opens in early February and the application is due in late March. The National College Match for high school seniors opens in late summer and the application is due in late September. 

Refer students who:

• Excel academically by earning primarily A’s in the most challenging courses available and displaying intellectual curiosity and strong writing ability.
• Come from households earning less than $65,000 annually (for a household of four), with minimal assets, and often qualify for their school's free or reduced-price meals.
• Exhibit strong character, such as resilience, integrity, and motivation to succeed.

Our programs are designed for high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds, but we recognize that you may not be certain whether a student is eligible, both financially and academically. Please refer any student, including younger students, who you think can benefit from our communication. We will reach out to them with more information on how to determine if they are eligible for QuestBridge programs. Referrals are not required to apply and students can opt out of our communications at any time.

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, providing recipients with the opportunity to achieve their goals and graduate college debt-free. The scholarship provides $2,000 to help pay for essential items to attend college and up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters. Free workshops, Free Schwab Brokerage Accounts, and Free Study Abroad provide recipients with a practical understanding of important life skills not typically covered in the school curriculum. Hagan Scholars have attended 648 colleges and universities located in 49 states and the District of Columbia and have studied abroad in 58 countries.

The Hagan Graduate Scholarships are for Hagan Scholars who have graduated college while in the Hagan Scholarship Program and are good for up to four additional semesters in college, providing up to $7,500 each semester to attend graduate school or the first two years of a professional program.

The Hagan International Graduate Scholarships are similar to the Hagan Graduate Scholarships. International applicants must have graduated or will graduate from a foreign institution, and must have received an acceptance letter for enrollment for the upcoming fall semester as a first-time graduate student at a college or university located in the U.S.

The American Indian Endowed Scholarship (AIES) helps students with financial need who have close social and cultural ties to an American Indian community in Washington State. Students can use the scholarship at public colleges and many independent colleges in Washington. The program prioritizes upper-division and graduate-level students, but all applicants are considered.

Award amounts range from around $500 to $2,000. Ten to 15 students are selected each year to receive the awards. Students may get AIES funding for up to five years, but must reapply each year.

Many past recipients have careers in law, medicine, education, business, and resource management. All have returned, or plan to return, to their tribal communities to work on behalf of Indian peoples within the state.

March 1st: Washington State School Retirees Association Scholarship-$ Various - These scholarships are for students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and are given to students who plan on following a career in the "field of education". These include areas of: teachers, counselor, speech therapist, occupational therapist, social worker or psychologist. Two of the scholarships are specifically for students who will major in Agricultural Education at WSU.  The applications are available online on the web page at WSSRA under the WSSR-Foundation & Scholarships tab. It is also posted here. Applications must be in approved form, with directions followed precisely and must be submitted online by March 1st.  Recipients will be notified by May 16th if they have been chosen.

March 2nd:  Ellevation's Annual Scholarship Fund - $2000 - Available to all HS Seniors who have ever been identified as language learners.

March 2nd: AWC Center for Quality Communities Scholarship Program - applications in the PDF below and need to be mailed to Mayor Glenn Johnson, City of Pullman, 325 SE Paradise St., Pullman, WA 99163. They must be received by March 2nd in order to be considered for the selection process.

March 3rd:  American Indian Endowed Scholarship - Scholarships generally range from $500-$2000.  Click on the link above and then "How do I apply?"

March 4th: United Farmers Cooperative Scholarship Program

Mar. 10th:  WAVE Scholarship - Washington Award for Vocational Excellence.  Up to 147 scholarships recipients awarded across Washington.  The award covers up to two years tuition, pays up to $3850 per year for two years (or up to $7700 total.

April 1st:  The Kiwanis Club of Pullman Performing Arts Prize
Requirements include 3 years in high school as part of music or drama programs.  To apply submit the following NO LATER than April 1st to:  Kiwanis Club of Pullman, P.O. Box 716, Pullman, WA 99163

• A written essay expressing one's own qualifications for the prize.
• A nomination from the student's teacher/ensemble director.

April 1st: American Legion Legacy --The American Legion's Legacy Scholarship provides college scholarship money to children of post 9/11 veterans who died on active duty, or have a combined VA disability rating of 50 percent or greater

April 1st:  Men's College Scholarship - available to any male, graduating senior from an accredited high school who is enrolling in a four-year undergraduate college program that commences in the fall.

April 2nd:  Bill Boehlke Character Scholarship provided through the Renton Foundation but open to all Washington Seniors- must be pursuing a career in digital communication.  Awards range from $500-$2500

April 2nd:  Certified Nursing Assistant Scholarship of $500 - must be accepted into a state-approved CNA Training/certification program by May 31st, 2021

April 5th:  Students of Integrity Scholarship by the Better Business Bureau- This scholarship is available to JUNIORS AND SENIORS and is has an application and essay requirement.  Each winning essay will receive a $2000 scholarship to the school of their choice.

May 1st:  BIAW Education Program Scholarship - This scholarship is for Washington residents only.  They have 70K to award this year with ONLY 14 applicants last year.  If you are pursuing a construction-related occupation, please apply.  Keep in mind construction consists of a wide variety including carpenters, designers, architects, plumbers, electricians, roofers, engineers, landscapers, etc.

May 1st:  Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund 2024 - Please go to website for more information.  Two opportunities for students pursuing careers in the construction industry through Apprenticeships and Trade schools.  One apprenticeship scholarship and one undergraduate scholarship. 

May 10th:  Colfax Eagles Golden Grain #2317 Scholarship Colfax Eagles Scholarship Application- $1500 Award.  Open to all graduating seniors located in Whitman County who are continuing their education at a two or four year college, trade, or technical school.  Applications must be received no later than May 10th, 2025 either by mail or email to the addresses listed on the application

May 19th:  McPartland Law Offices Scholarship Program - 5 scholarships of $500.00 will be awarded for deserving seniors in eastern Washington.  Applicant must write a short essay between 350-500 words.

May 31st: Sigma Phi Epsilon's Balanced Man Scholarship - a scholarship opportunity for incoming male freshman to Washington State University. No applicant is required to join Sigma Phi Epsilon, or participate in any IFC recruiting events. Winners can receive up to $4,000.
