Financial Aid

The 2024-25 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) will not be available until December 2023.  The WAFSA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) will also be delayed until the FAFSA opens.  Applications usually open October 1st of a student's senior year, so this is a major shift in the college planning process.

The good news is that this delay is due to positive changes in the financial aid application process:

  • The FAFSA form will be shorter and less complex
  • More students will be eligible for federal Pell Grants, and the average Pell award will be larger.

To be considered for federal student aid for the 2024-25 award year, you can complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after December 2023, exact date will be announced soon. Awards are made until funds are depleted. Many states and colleges have early deadlines for applying for state and institutional financial aid. Because of the variation in state and college deadlines, it is highly recommended that you fill out the FAFSA as soon as you can after the application opens in December (exact date to be released at a later date) to ensure that you do not miss out on available aid.
